sremcp

The read-only AI SRE for your whole team

Connect your MCP servers, approve every tool, and let everyone investigate incidents — with exactly the access their role allows.

Why is p99 latency up on checkout since 14:00?
mcp__prometheus__query_range
mcp__k8s-prod__get_events
mcp__github__list_deployments

Summary — p99 went from 180 ms to 1.4 s at 14:02, right after deploy #4821 of checkout-api.

Evidence — 3 pods OOMKilled (k8s-prod), connection pool at 100% (prometheus).

Next steps — roll back #4821 or raise the pool limit; I can't make changes.

Give the agent tools, not the keys

An AI agent with production credentials is a new on-call engineer nobody onboarded. sremcp puts an SRE between the two: every tool is reviewed, every call is logged.

  • What the agent can call

Agent with raw credentials: Whatever the credentials allow

    sremcp: Only tools someone approved

  • When a tool changes

Agent with raw credentials: Nobody notices

    sremcp: Withheld until reviewed again

  • Who sees the output

Agent with raw credentials: Whoever has the chat

sremcp: Only roles granted those servers

  • Audit trail

Agent with raw credentials: Maybe the model provider’s logs

sremcp: Every call, approval and role change

AI SRE

Ask what's wrong in plain words. The agent investigates with your approved tools and shows its evidence.

Ask, and it investigates

Metrics, logs, events and recent deploys, gathered before it concludes — then a summary, the evidence, the likely cause and the next steps for a human.

Approve tool by tool

Read-only and destructive hints up front. An approval is for the exact definition the reviewer saw — if the server changes it, the approval doesn’t count.

Drift detection

Every health check and every run re-fingerprints the live tools. A changed tool is withheld and sent back for review.

Access control

Seven roles, one permission matrix, enforced by the API on every call — not just hidden in the UI.

Grant servers per role

QA on staging only, developers on their services. A new server is granted to nobody until you say so.

Security

The prompt asks the agent to be careful. The architecture makes sure it doesn't matter if it isn't.

https://mcp.grafana.acme.compublic address
https://169.254.169.254metadata — always blocked
https://rebind.attacker.ioresolved to 10.0.0.5 at connect
https://[::]:8443unspecified address

SSRF-guarded, at connect time

Metadata, link-local and NAT64 addresses always blocked; private ranges only when you allow them. Checked when a URL is saved and again on every connection, so DNS rebinding goes nowhere.

Bearer token

v1:Qm9uZ…:Xh3K…:8fLq2…

  • AES-256-GCM, a key per organization
  • Bound to its server; never sent to a browser
  • Rotate any time; never read back

Secrets encrypted per organization

MCP credentials are write-only: encrypted on the API, never sent to a browser, rotated without being read.

What the agent can reach

Approved tools only

On active servers your role is granted

Matching the definition someone approved

60 s per tool call, 15 steps per run

Read-only by design

Approved tools on granted, active servers, with hard timeouts. Use read-only credentials and the agent can only look.

One console for the whole on-call rotation

Everyone signs in to the same place and sees what their role allows — the nav, the servers the agent can use, and the runs they can read. Owners and Admins run the organization.
